Hello, thanks for the report. It is a bit hard to debug this one... Have you fixed that in the meantime? Can you try installing gpd.read_file(gpd.datasets.get_path('naturalearth_lowres'), engine="pyogrio") I believe this is an installation issue on |

I have checked that this issue has not already been reported.
I have confirmed this bug exists on the latest version of geopandas.
The kernel of my Jupyter Notebook crashes whenever I try to run gpd.read_file() on a package dataset or local shapefile. The package installed fine, and I can access the package's modules, but running this code snipped crashes my kernel:
I installed GeoPandas following this process - installing the most recent version upon a separate conda environment.
Neither this question nor this question resolved my issue.
