gammu and wavecom (MULTIBAND 900E 1800) #833

In this post I redacted the target phone number.

I am unable to send a SMS using the command
gammu sendsms TEXT +49151XXXXXXXX -text "Test via gammu" -smscnumber +49171076XXXXXX -report
The Response is: "unknwown error, please report a bug"

With the very same modem I can send SMS using minicom and the commands "ATZ", "AT+CMGF=1" and "AT+CMGS=..."

Any help is much appreciated.

The modem identifys as:
