I think with this line (once merged) we will be able to officially retire https://github.com/fsharp/fsharp in favour of https://github.com/dotnet/fsharp. There will now be no major distributions of F# drawn where this repo is on the code-flow chain

I'm not sure if any action is needed - the docs in this repo already redirect people away - and maybe someone is still drawing things from here - I'm not sure.

The FSSF should continue to hold the rights to this repo of course in case it ever in the future needs to fulfill on its mission statement promise to resurrect F# engineering here, though I don't expect it will be needed.

It might be good to do an FSSF write up of the long path of F# engineering from November 2010 (first source drop) to November 2020 (convergence of open source efforts) explaining

  1. the critical role this FSSF repo served as home of F# over those years in enabling the community to lead the way in open engineering for F#, even at quite incredible technical cost

  2. the long slow slog to reconvergence of community-based core engineering at dotnet/fsharp

I would like to see this repo Archived (in the github sense) if possible - e.g, searching for async <something> often lands me into async.fs, and on occasion I've even wasted time assuming he world has stood still - I suspect I may not be the only one that's gotten mistaken impressions ;)
