This is needed for AMP feature. For full context please check out the final Implementation proposal.

The HTML that is inside of post.content.rendered is outside of the scope of the theme because it's managed by Html2React, but from the theme perspective, it should contain AMP-aware components. We could make the twentytwenty-theme AMP-aware.
