The method for creating diagnostic traces with task parameters, etc is documented (set MSBuildDebugEngine=1, set MSBuildDebugPath=c:\some\path). But it would be more convenient to check a box or select a verbosity level from with VS, do the build, and open the log directly. That would also eliminate correlating the current build to the binlog in the external folder.
