Failing to build image when attempt to run dotnet publish

Hi, I am quite new to .NET ,so I am still figuring out its docker environment, but based on the error log I am not entirely sure if it has to do with my project config or Dockerfile config.

Here is the error log when attempt to build the image:

if you require more context , I can provide, btw this is running on older version , .NET 6.0 and its web api, I have tried few samples of the dockerfiles and the default given by docker init.

Can you share what /source/SERVICESPORTAL.csproj looks like? Per the error it appears to have a syntax error caused by a malformed if statement.

Yup, I think you might be right it looks like it was caused by the command in the <target> block . Do you have any suggestion on what can be done for this case?

I just comment it out ,at the moment and the docker build runs fine, thanks a lot @MichaelSimons . I think that tag was added for some purpose by the old maintainer. Weirdly, I could only find reference to specifying the target block for debug cases, because I dont think it is the default configuration when the .NET webapi was built. Personally, never bother to configure it before, so don't really know much
