Space character (%20) in mailto string for email notifications throws error

I am using the below string for in the Notification URL List on the http://127.0.0.1:5000/settings#notifications page. Notice, the password for the GMail SMTP server has spaces in it (I put in a fake password for this discussion post)

mailto://patelc75:abcd%2efgh%20ijkl%20mnop@gmail.com?to=chirag@chirag.name&from=High%20School%20Tour%20Tracker%20(Alpha)

When I click Send Test Notification it works and an email is delivered, but when a real life Watch tries to send an email, I get below error. Since the test notification works, it makes me thing it's a changedetection.io issue and not an apprise issue. Character 24 stated below is the first %20 character in the password. Any ideas?
