FYI - Related Mastodon feature request:
"Multiple 2FA registrations per account" (TOTP + U2F)

Google Accounts is a good example of this flexibility.
With the ongoing decentralization, it is becoming more and more important that users of various systems may have a good level of security while also enabling themselves to recover from login problems on their own, without support/assistance. Multiple 2FA registrations alleviates this, among other practical uses.

I am using devise-two-factor in my project. I display the QR code there and the account holder can connect as many apps/devices as (s)he wants. I myself test usually with Authy and GA in parallel.

This feature would be great for shared accounts. We have an account for our Java User Group which is managed by two people. Unfortunately we can't use 2FA now.

Came here to suggest this -- adding my support. This would be a great feature.
