When you check a search, you get hits highlighted in the open XML file, and the Output tab prints “Found node of type X [with name X…] at line X” for each hit in the document.
Both of these are useful, but even more useful would be an option to output the actual search result in the Output tab, so that you simply get a list of hits.
For example, a search like //country[@Population>100000000]/@name in an XML file of country data would yield output like this:

India
United States
Indonesia
Pakistan
Brazil
Nigeria
Bangladesh
Russia
Mexico
Japan
Ethiopia
Philippines
Egypt
