I think this is fine but I cant promise this wont be here after the store refactor. Ideally we clean up all interfaces and interactions instead of keep many things that were bolted on as bandaids.

I understand this is like a ad-hoc addition to the interface, but it seems to be the minimal change to support my use case in issue #13317
don't know about the store refactoring, I guess there's not much public information yet?

100% in the future we may move the location of such a feature and better support such query engines. there is a lot of thought going into the next design and we are partnering with other teams to do this work.
