How to use custom types in message proto definition

Hi there!
I'm adding a message with a custom field implemented in go. It's proto3, something like this:

message MsgDataItem {
  string creator = 1;
  bytes data_item = 2 [
    (gogoproto.customtype) =  "github.com/warp-contracts/syncer/src/utils/bundlr.BundleItem",
    (gogoproto.nullable) = false,
    (gogoproto.moretags) = "validate:\"max=104857600\""
  ];
}

Everything builds, but when I try to send this message with the CLI I'm getting:

bundlr.BundleItem declared custom type github.com/warp-contracts/syncer/src/utils/bundlr.BundleItem but it is not convertible to <nil>

I think that would mean one of the Register* functions wasn't called, but it seems it shouldn't be called for customtypes (only for messages).

Anyone created a customtype with proto3? Any idea what's wrong?

Found it, it was bad MarshalJSON definition
