Are pod annotations ignored for shim v2?

If I have an example pod

when I check /run/containerd/io.containerd.runtime.v2.task/k8s.io/.../config.json I see

which doesn't contain any annotations from the Pod meta-data.

I was able to find kubernetes/kubernetes#112311 (comment) which hints that this is might be the expected behaviour but wanted to check.
