Pie / Doughnut chart piece overlap and clipped corners

Using the 2.9.4 version

1. How can I remove the clipped corners as shown in the picture?

2. How can I make it so that the currently hovered chart piece has a larger z-index ( overlaps others )?

1. Unfortunately I don't think the line-join is configurable. https://github.com/chartjs/Chart.js/blob/2.9/src/elements/element.arc.js#L76

Already tried, but that's not it. I need something like this

in v3 we have offset, which might help a little. But I guess you need to customize/override the drawing of arc.

It's an interesting option but still not really what I need. But as you said I will probably have to try to customize the method for arc drawing. How would I do this though?
