WalletConnect v2 upgrades (check-in)

Meeting notes:

• Valora
  • WCv2 upgrade brought a lot of support issues
  • WCv2 seems less reliable than WCv1 (mostly time out issues)
  • Hoping that upgrading dependencies will help
• Ubeswap
  • propose they archive the old interface
  • Ubeswap is one of the most used dapps in Valora (but might have to do with being listed at top)
  • GoodDollar is biggest liquidity provider on Ubeswap V3
  • Minima router is often named as Ubeswap advantage (but not sure if it includes Uniswap and non-Celo DEXs). Minima API router is down/offline since SEC issues.
  • Valora will consider using CeloTracker to migrate user funds (support WCv2)
  • CeloTracker is using Rainbowkit
• Moola
  • Is based on react-celo v4 (upgrade to v5 is pretty simple)

Viem x Celo fee currency feature

Viem now officially supports Celo's fee currency out-of-the-box.
We are putting together some demos and code snippets to illustrate the feature.

  • viem supports transactions with alternative fee currencies out of the box

  • CIP42 transactions do show up in Blockscout
  • Valora considering switching from contractkit to ethers (V6) in Wallet client (Joe/Jacob "activation squad" working on this)
  • Ask: Have template/example code snippets for logic hidden inside contractkit using ethers/viem
  • Things got a lot faster switching from CK to viem because CK did some sequential contract calls (in stcelo got down from 30 second load time to 3 sec)

Blockscout GraphQL usage in Valora

• Jean
  • graphQL endpoint is used to compute (1) transaction history and (2) balance
  • Valora is moving away from graphQL endpoint to computer the balance
  • There is no significant performance improvement or reason Valora has to use graphQL to computer the transaction history over other widely available REST APIs (e.g. celoscan, Blockscout's REST API, etc).
  • The cLabs hosted graphQL endpoint is not a bottleneck for Valora and can be switched relatively easily
