It would be nice to be PHP-only without having to rely on bash, and run everything as straight Composer commands.

But... Composer relies on an older version of psr/log that is incompatible with monolog/monolog@3, and this isn't apparent until: you try to run a Composer command that instantiates a Monolog logger. And bang.
