How to discover the resolved region by the default provider chain?

I have a region specified in my .aws/config file and my simple script works just fine without specifying an AWS_REGION. I'm assuming that behavior "just works" because of "default credential provider chain" that I've read about.

In another part my script I need to know the region to generate a specific ARN. Is there a way to discover the region that was discovered by the default provider chain?

I think I figured it out: Aws::STS::Client.new.config.region

Yes - Aws::STS::Client.new.config.region is a good way to get the resolved region. The region isn't being resolved through the credential provider chain - but rather through region resolution, see: resolve_region.

The resolved region is always the region on the config of the client, so I think your way is best.
