Get binary blob with apigateway service

Sorry, but I can't understand how do I get binary blobs from Rest endpoints using apigateway?

What I have:

• I added application/octet-stream to binaryMediaTypes for this Rest API resource
• I do set Content-Type: application/octet-stream on the server side, and I confirm this is the header I receive for the responses
• I do set Accept: application/octet-stream on the sdk client before invoking the method

Note that when not using aws-sdk, and simply making calls with go's http module to my localhost, I have no issues, and do receive the correct payload. Regular users also have no issues downloading the files from the web application (yes, it is deployed on AWS).

When reading from TestInvokeMethodOutput.Body however, I receive mangled text.
Example, what I expect:

This particular example has a correct size of 5384 (Content-Length header is correctly returning this value when reading from TestInvokeMethodOutput.Headers) however, the real value I get from TestInvokeMethodOutput.Body is 9080 long.

How do I tell the sdk not to mess with binary response?

EDIT: I guess the answer is to not use SDK fpr that. Just call the public endpoints 🤷‍♂️
