Item Doesn't Play in Safari #5819

Description

From IU production: there is an item that will play in Firefox and Chrome but not in Safari. Other items seem fine to play in Safari but this one in particular will not play. This is in latest Safari 17.4.1 in macOS 14.4.

Notes

It seems like this is because the masterfile was created via 'skip transcoding' and there's something in particular about the stream or the HLS manifest causing it to not work in Safari specifically.

Done Looks Like

  • Investigation into cause
  • Stream loads and plays back successfully in Safari

Couldn't reproduce; may have been a local server issue.
