I guess that's what most distributions ship. Tested on Debian Wheezy.

Are you afraid of Chromium?

Hello.
Michal Mocny merged a PR of mine days ago about running the browser platform on Linux. See this JIRA https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CB-7978.

Probably that fix can be enhanced with chromium if required

browser platform uses cordova-serve now. closing.
Please send a pr to cordova https://github.com/apache/cordova-lib/tree/master/cordova-serve if this is still relevant.
