Different font sizes/types per line (not just monospaced)

Has anyone considered how one would add support for different font sizes or types mixed on the same line in ACE?

Currently ACE relies on not only it being a monospace font but it relies on the same monospace font being used throughout the entire document.

It seems like i'm going to have to rip out a lot of guts in order to support what i'm thinking. Does anyone have any ideas?

for what it's worth, this would be a huge feature for me. I'd love to build a general purpose markdown editor and having headers of variable sizes would be really spiffy! With that said, I'm really in awe of what you guys have accomplished and will hopefully begin contributing soon.
