The following is based on testing the PR Gutenberg Build from this PR:
#36379 (comment)

What problem does this address?

There is no quick way to open the W icon to open or close the WP menu area.

What is your proposed solution?

Let's add a shortcut. For instance pressing W on the keyboard to open and close the left WP menu area.
