What is the new page you are requesting?

A page that explains the WordPress WXR file format. It's an advanced or newer (I believe) file format/syntax that is able to import/export all the normal stuff from WP, but also allows for linking custom fields to posts (metadata), user data, and some other stuff.

However, there aren't any handbook pages on how the syntax looks, how the data mappings work.

How will this new page help you?

It would be helpful to know about WXR files for a number of reasons

CSV to WordPress

How to create an entire website from a spreadsheet

  • Create your content in a spreadsheet, mapping the column headings to the import
  • Export to .csv
  • Use a CSV to XML tool (or make something to convert to WXR)
  • Import to WordPress

etc.

Integration opportunities to promote Data Liberation!
