Artifact metadata was added in #3074. Currently "hidden" and "basic" are available fields. The basic field is associated with the COLLECT_BASIC permission, which allows designated artifacts to be run by users with this limited permission.
We can use a VQL query to see which artifacts are set as basic but in the GUI's Artifact Viewer there is no visual indication of which artifacts have been set as basic. It would be useful to have a view filter that showed only "basic" artifacts.
I have looked at the code in api/artifacts.go and there already seems to be some logic related to the "hidden" metadata property. Unfortunately I don't have the skills to follow all the logic needed to implement such a feature. But hopefully this means that most of it can be derived from already-existing code.
