Why is a registered prompt not working in a plugin?

I register the inquirerDirectory prompt in my main app:

import inquirer from 'inquirer';
import inquirerDirectory from 'inquirer-directory';

inquirer.registerPrompt('directory', inquirerDirectory);

async function main() {
  ...
}

main().catch((err) => console.error('Error:', err));

When I use this prompt in the main app it works very nicely. However, when I try to use it in a dynamically loaded plugin (e.g. here, it does not work. It acts as if it was a normal input.

Am I missing some important detail about registering prompts?

It doesn't look like inquirer.registerPrompt('directory', inquirerDirectory); is called in the file causing issue. Where is the plugin loaded & defined if not in that file?

My understanding is that inquirer.registerPrompt('directory', inquirerDirectory); should be called only once in an application. So I am calling it in the main file here & not in the plugins. Am I missing something?

So inquirer.registerPrompt can be called as often as you want. But here it looks to me like the main file doesn't run before your async file, so there's nowhere your plugin gets loaded and defined. I'd recommend registering it again in your async file.
