When you deploy OpenShift Virtualization with OpenShift Data Foundation,
you must create a dedicated storage class for Windows virtual machine disks.
See Optimizing ODF PersistentVolumes for Windows VMs > for details.
The document is not public, basically the issue is that with some Windows version the you can experience CRC errors when data is written and read across different processes or threads. The issue is mitigated by using a storage class with the rxbounce feature.
When installing OpenShift Virtualization with ODF, a storage class ocs-storagecluster-ceph-rbd-virtualization is created (not sure which component creates it) with the right configuration, and should be used for Windows VMs.
Since this is relevant only to Windows VMs, we don't need it for the samples VMs, but Annette reports that we get an alert if not using this storage class. Here is an example alert:
