Trying to fire off workflow_dispatch events

I am writing some backend automation for a project and i am having trouble with starting a workflow dispatch event. The command is successful but returns nothing, no errors or exceptions. and i am wondering what i am doing wrong. I have some raw code i am trying to test with:

workflows_page = API_GITHUB_REPO.get_workflows()
workflow = None
if len(automation_runners) > 0:
    for workflow in workflows_page:
        if workflow.name == 'Build Validation':

            job = workflow.create_dispatch(
                ref='workflow_dispatch',
                inputs={
                    "softwareVersion": "1.27.3",
                    "osVersion": "660307",
                    "runConfig": "Hardware1",
                    "environment": "prod",
                    "Repo": "test"
                }
            )
            break

Cancel this. someone misspelled a variable name in the yaml. works great now
