By default, the formatting of files in Unix takes up a lot of space and truncates itself often. Don't believe me: check out this log, and tell me which files outputted.
This is because the default formatting takes up a lot of space:
10 characters for usermode
10 characters for user
10 characters for group
16 characters for LastWriteTime
12 characters for size
Remaining for Name
This means that the last column is often dropped entirely.
Since CI/CD is a very common place to be running PowerShell on Unix, it seems to me that it makes sense for the formatting to be simplified for this scenario.
(getting GitHub to increase its truncation width also wouldn't hurt)
