Problem with install

I am trying to install phpmailer using composer and it gives me this error:

Your requirements could not be resolved to an installable set of packages.
  Problem 1
    - slim/slim is locked to version 4.0.0 and an update of this package was not requested.
    - slim/slim 4.0.0 requires php ^7.1 -> your php version (8.0.0) does not satisfy that requirement.
  Problem 2
    - slim/http is locked to version 1.0.0 and an update of this package was not requested.
    - slim/http 1.0.0 requires php ^7.2 -> your php version (8.0.0) does not satisfy that requirement.
  Problem 3
    - slim/psr7 is locked to version 1.2.0 and an update of this package was not requested.
    - slim/psr7 1.2.0 requires php ^7.2 -> your php version (8.0.0) does not satisfy that requirement.

Installation failed, reverting ./composer.json and ./composer.lock to their original content.

Please read the output. This has absolutely nothing to do with PHPMailer. Your version of Slim is outdated, fix that.

That's the latest version of Slim out there. To solve the problem I had to go back to PHP 7. Thanks for your time.

SlimPHP added PHP 8 support in release 4.7.0 last November.
