Difference between sandboxed and clustered use

is there a difference in the use of bull as a sandbox job and the use of clustering the worker/queue using throng or similar clustering dependencies ?

Does the sandbox approach run a separate thread when called, ie: queue.process('/path/to/my/processor.js');
