Can't insert text fetched from an API

I find this tutorial very useful but I want to try more things and for example I want to insert text that is retrieved from an API, but this can't seem to work and I don't know why even though I know the text is being retrieved. At first, I thought it was because it is done asynchronously but I don't know the reason anymore. I would be glad if I could get some help
