We're seeing quite a lot of DNS lookups to the dd-agent and the sum total of them actually adds quite a bit of latency. My question is:

  1. Should dd-trace actually being doing a DNS lookup on an IP address? There's no translation needed.
    • If we're actually doing the work as suggested in the trace, is there a chance for optimization by caching the DNS lookups?
  2. Would it be valuable to turn off just tracing for DNS lookups for the agent (but keep other DNS lookup traces)?
