I am tasked by a rather large institution to explore options for a data sharing platform. After defining the specs (fine-grained access control, DOI, version control etc.), it turns out that OSF might be pretty much exactly what we need. Great job :-)
Unfortunately, due to the highly sensitive nature of the data and administrative concerns, we will have to host our own version of OSF, as the data will have to remain on our servers. There is one caveat there, in that an out-facing OSF installation would also allow any registered user to upload files to our servers, which is not what we intend.
Is it possible in the current framework to administratively set and change upload privileges for users? If not, could such a feature be implemented?
I understand that supporting custom installations is not the main focus of this project or even this issues tracker. Please do PM me if this is not an issue to be discussed here. Thanks :-)

Can we set up some time to chat? There are examples of local/separate installations of OSF, so let's talk about the details of your needs and see if that would make sense for you.
