Why should we do this?

  • Currently, the Ask on Entry (AOE) questions appear without any context.
  • Users have expressed confusion and discomfort regarding why these questions are being asked.
  • Providing additional context can help users feel more comfortable and understand the purpose of the questions.
  • Users are more likely to answer the questions when they have a clear understanding.

User story

As a user at an organization or facility, I want to see additional context for the Ask on Entry questions, so that I can understand why these questions are being asked and feel more comfortable providing the answers.

Action Requested

(info icon) [blue text link] "Why SimpleReport asks about sensitive topics like this"

  • Add additional context to the Ask on Entry questions to provide users with a clear understanding of why these questions are being asked.
  • When a user clicks on the text link or icon, a modal window appears displaying context for all relevant AOE questions. Clicking on the "x" or blue "Got it" button will close the modal window and return the user to the previous screen.
  • Text appearing in the modal window:
Why we ask for gender of sexual partners and other sensitive topics

Gender of sexual partners
This helps public health departments understand which types of sexual connections are leading to STI spread and understand which populations to focus their support on.

Patient pregnancy
If a patient is pregnant, this increases the public health department’s prioritization of the patient’s care as STIs can pass onto the child.

Syphilis symptoms
This helps public health departments understand which stage of syphilis the patient may be in.

When someone’s had syphilis before
If a patient has ever had syphilis, rapid tests will always return positive. This helps public health departments understand if this is a new case of syphilis.

(info icon) [blue text link] "Where results are sent"

  • Add additional context to the Ask on Entry questions to provide users with a clear understanding of why these questions are being asked.
  • When a user clicks on the text link or icon, a modal window appears displaying context for all relevant AOE questions. Clicking on the "x" or blue "Got it" button will close the modal window and return the user to the previous screen.
  • Text appearing in the modal window:
Where are SimpleReport test results sent?

When you click submit, test results are automatically sent to your local public health departments as well as CDC. The data sent over includes other supporting information, such as test device, specimen type, and your organization’s contact information.

Data that is sent to CDC is automatically stripped of personally identifiable data, such as name, in order to protect your patient’s confidentiality.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Two (2) text links have been added to the test card
  • Modal windows appear with the corresponding text (provided above) when text link or info icon is clicked
  • Modal window closes when either the "x" or "got it" button are clicked
  • Text link and Modal Window interaction has been implemented and tested on mobile device

Review

  • Reviewed with design and/or design lead
  • Reviewed with product and engineering
