The user gave me permission to publish their debug log, which spans many runs and both version v0.4.0 and v0.5.0

At first I thought this was just because the user didn't install the app. Its

So on my Mac Mini, I have the following files
I was able to reproduce something similar to this issue by just deleting those files. Here's what I got on an upgrade attempt in the app:
I released a new version that tries to add this library at build-time It failed with the same erorr, but I noticed it's an absolute path, so i tried creating a symlink. It worked!
After that, the next attempt to run the in-app upgrade worked. It was able to get the json and its signature and confirm its valid with

Looks like this was a bug in PyInstaller A fix was merged on 2021-01-19 Gah, but it looks like all that merge does is suppress error output :( |
Anyway, it looks like there's an environment variable I've been struggling to get the app to inherit this when launched from the CLI, but I was successfully able to demonstrate that this works directly from the python interpreter

I added the env var to set the SRC_DIR as the fallback: And the resulting build does not encounter the issue finding the library, even when it doesn't exist in |
I messaged the user who originally reported this bug to ask them to try the latest build, but they didn't respond :( As far as I know, we've fixed this bug in v0.6.0 |
