Cricut Design Space uses installed fonts. This means you have to install the font on your system first. We have written a simple guide on how to install fonts:

Access Special Characters in PicMonkey

A lot of fonts come with those nice curly lines and variations of letters and numbers (if you want to learn more about how these different variations are called, check out our glossary). They look beautiful but a lot of people find it hard to access them. This is because there are different ways font designers build their fonts which unfortunately means that there are different ways to access these special characters.

Cricut Design Space only supports extra characters for what we call “PUA Encoded Fonts”. If you need to use a font in Cricut Design Space and the font is not PUA Encoded, you have to realize that you can only access basic letters and numbers (a, b, c, d, 1, 2, 3, etc). Sometimes this is all you need, but many times you are buying a font because it comes with those extra special characters.

We have written a simple manual for you on how to access the extra characters in PUA Encoded Fonts which you can find in our PUA Encoded Fonts Manual. If you don’t know if a font is PUA encoded, check with the designer or seller first.
