The temporary fix in #172 is not used when producing releases in the CI. Due to that fix missing, linking to release 1.4.0 in C on Windows produces the same errors as described in that issue:

unresolved external symbol __imp_NtWriteFile
unresolved external symbol __imp_RtlNtStatusToDosError
